The GEF is organizing a program of side events and exhibits through which stakeholders can highlight their work and share their views and experiences on issues related to the global environment. Side events have been selected taking into account the following criteria: direct relevance to the GEF’s goals and objectives; partnerships among GEF stakeholders; illustrating on-the-ground experiences, lessons learned, and innovative approaches in addressing global environmental issues; and a balanced representation of sponsors, focal areas, regions, and themes. Constituency MeetingsCouncil Members are invited to take advantage of opportunity offered by the Third GEF Assembly to organize meetings with members of their constituency. A meeting room will be made available at the CTICC throughout the Assembly for this purpose. Site VisitsSite visits to projects in and around Cape Town will be organized on August 31 and September 1 to provide participants with the opportunity to see on-the-ground activities financed by the GEF and its partners in South Africa. Assembly participants can register to visit top-performing environment and development-related projects in a variety of settings, including world-famous botanical gardens, nature reserves, and wetland areas.
