GEF Benefits Index
The GEF Benefits Index is a measure of the potential of each country to generate global environmental benefits in a particular focal area. Separate indices are determined for the biodiversity and climate change focal areas.

GBI for Biodiversity
The GBI for biodiversity seeks to measure the potential global benefits that can be realized from biodiversity related activities in a country. It reflects the complex, highly uneven distribution of species and threats to them across the ecosystems of the world, both within and across countries. It recognizes the richness of available data in some areas of biodiversity through the inclusion of detailed indicators and acknowledges the data gaps in other areas through the inclusion of broad indicators. It is aligned with the 2010 targets of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). Additional details on the GBI for Biodiversity
GBI for Climate Change
The GBI for climate change seeks to measure the potential global benefits that can be realized from climate change mitigation activities in a country. The approach reflects the objectives of the GEF climate change operational programs to address long-term priorities to mitigate climate change.
