VII. National Dialogue News GEF Dialogue Initiative to Host Consultations for GEF Focal Points The GEF Dialogue Initiative is pleased to announce that between late April and mid-July 2006, all political and operational GEF focal points, as well as some nongovernmental organizations, will be invited to participate in one of six subregional consultations to be organized by the program partners. Each of these subregional consultations will take place over a two-day period. The consultations aim to provide a an overview of the GEF’s new operational modalities, including the Resource Allocation Framework, and opportunities available for focal point capacity building under the new Country Support Program (CSP). The subregional consultations will also provide an opportunity to seek the focal points input on their knowledge management and regional exchange and training needs within the framework provided by the CSP. The first two consultations will take place on April 20-21, 2006, in Dakar, Senegal and on April 24-25, 2006, in Pretoria, South Africa. Consultations for other GEF-recipient countries will take place in Alexandria, Bratislava, Kuala Lumpur, and Panama during the above period. GEF focal points can expect to receive formal invitations to these consultations from the GEF Secretariat in the coming weeks, with information including the detailed consultation agenda and logistical information on focal point travel and accommodations to follow shortly thereafter.
