V. Focal Point News Indonesia Hosts Constituency Meeting From December 14–15, 2005, Indonesia convened the GEF focal point meeting for the constituency consisting of Cook Islands, Fiji, Indonesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu. This meeting presented an opportunity for the political and operational focal points from the countries participating in the constituency to discuss constituency matters, and share ideas on good practices in strengthening their capacities in order to optimize the implementation of GEF projects. In addition, the participants explored the potential to cooperate in developing joint GEF projects. India Hosts Constituency Meeting A meeting for the constituency comprising: Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka was held on February 13, 2006 in New Delhi, India. This meeting provided a forum for the constituency members, representatives of the GEF Secretariat and the GEF Implementing Agencies to discuss a number of issues including the effective and optimum access and utilization of the GEF resources particularly under the GEF Resource Allocation Framework (RAF). The meeting also discussed the issue of constituency coordination and meeting participants stressed the need to work together towards the strengthening of coordination at the constituency level. |
