II. GEF Chairman and CEO to Retire

Leonard Good, the GEF Chairman and CEO, has announced that he will retire when his term ends in June 2006. During his tenure, the GEF entered its third replenishment and expanded its portfolio beyond its original focus on climate change, biological diversity, international waters, and ozone protection to include new programs for land management and persistent organic pollutants.

A global search is ongoing for a new CEO. The search process is expected to end in June 2006.
