NOTIFICATION OF NGO CONSULTATION
PRIOR TO GEF COUNCIL MEETING

The next GEF Council meeting will take place in Washington D.C. from May 9-11, 2000. This meeting will be preceded by an NGO Consultation on May 8, 2000. The NGO consultation is open to representatives from all NGOs accredited to the GEF.  Members, Alternates, and all those invited to Council Meetings are also invited to attend the Consultation. Please note the new venue of the consultation is the World Bank's H Auditorium, 600-19th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20433.

Accredited NGOs wishing to attend the Consultation should complete and return the attached registration form to the GEF Secretariat.

Please note that the GEF Council has agreed to make available limited resources for the purpose of facilitating NGO participation in the consultations and the GEF Council meeting.  These resources are administered by the IUCN, which is the central focal point for accredited NGOs.  In approving these resources the GEF Council stressed that the criteria for selection of NGO representatives should be based on the principles of regional representation and of self selection by the NGOs.  For further information, please contact your regional focal point.  For easy reference, we are attaching a list of the current NGO focal points.
