M&E Activities 2005-2006
The Office of M&E plans its activities on a four-year rolling basis. A work program is approved annually by the GEF Council. The current work program was submitted to the June 2005 Council meeting (GEF/ME/C.25/3 Four Year Work Program and Budget of the Office of Monitoring and Evaluation), and Council approved the principles underlying the work program subject to comments made during the meeting (Joint Summary of the Chairs, p.3).
During 2005-2006 the Office of M&E is concentrating its work on completing the following main core tasks:
- Two cross-cutting studies - capacity building and incremental cost calculations
- Monitoring program
- Knowledge management
- Follow-up to OPS3 and the study on Local Benefits
The main activities planned are:
Evaluation Program
Thematic study on GEF capacity building initiatives and programs, including issues such as the GEF Enabling Activities, Focal Points support program, the Country Dialogue Workshops program, activities of selected projects, and the development of indicators
- Study on the incremental cost calculations
- Country portfolio reviews and impact evaluations
Monitoring Program
Assist the GEF Secretariat and Implementing Agencies with program indicators for land degradation and follow-up on international waters indicators
Mainstreaming of GEF concerns in Implementing and Executing Agencies’ internal reviews and feedback
